browse CUP collection This is our largest collection, and dates from the inception of the Herbarium and the Department of Plant Pathology in 1907. CUP photos document the work of department members, and include portraits and photos of agricultural equipment and pest control practices over the last century. Three generations of professional photographers employed by the department generated most of these images. Willis Fisher held the title of Department Photographer from 1907 to 1950. Howie Lyon worked from 1950-1985, and was succeeded by Kent Loeffler, our current photographer. Our Photo Lab now serves diverse Cornell researchers using mostly digital technologies. A gallery of the best work of the Plant Pathology Photographers can be viewed through Explore Cornell.
Photographs in this CUP collection bear the prefix 'CUP.' If a corresponding preserved plant or fungus specimen exists in the herbarium, it shares the same accession number. |
