browse biodiversity preserve collection These photos arose from an ambitious attempt to inventory all the fungi that occur on a local nature preserve. Fungi collected as part of the biodiversity inventory project were later sent to Shering-Plough to be screened for novel medicines. This effort by the Cornell Center for Fungal Biology (CCFB) took place starting in 1998 on the Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity Preserve of the Finger Lakes Land Trust. The 500 acre Preserve is located in West Danby, in the beautiful FingerLakes region of upstate New York. Remarkable for its diverse habitats, it is home to many fungi, only a fraction of which were collected during the brief project. The Preserve is open to the public, and will be protected in perpetuity by the Finger Lakes Land Trust. Photos in this collection were taken by Jim Babcock, Gordon Hill or Kent Loeffler. Permission to use the images and high resolution files can be obtained by contacting CUP.
The prefix 'CUP-LP' identifies the photos in this collection; if a corresponding herbarium specimen exists, it shares the same accession number. |
